Persian cats is a social, beautiful and harmless pet animal. The cat is generally famous for its quiet and sweet behaviors. It usually sought permission on entering to gathering. It is also called Iranian cats or Shirizi cat. Its scientific name is Felis catus. Persian cat has silky shiny fur, round face, glowing eyes and long hairs on whole body. Although, valid reason of its long hair is not known, however, the scientists declared it as a result of natural mutation.
In 1626, an Italian citizen Mr. Pietro Della Valle introduced a long haired cat in Europe at the first time. Probably, it was brought to Europe by traders from Middle East (Asia). In the beginning, these cats were known as Asiatic cats, which were available in one color. Later, Persian scientists worked on it and developed its color, type, names, size and breed etc. Therefore, the credit goes to these Persian scientists for their outstanding work. Now, we can see it in different color, type and size. Even, it is available in bi-color also.
Persian cat is an elegant, graceful, gentle and most popular pet animal. It has unique characteristics from all other pet animals. Therefore, it require more attention, care and maintenance. We must know about the important information of these cats in order to fulfill the required standard of care and maintenance. The breed information are explained in the succeeding paragraph:-
a) Persian cat is known as Longhair, Persian Longhair, Shiraz and Shirazi cat. The name of the cat indicates its origin i.e. Persian (Iran). It is available in multiple colors i.e white, black, blue, red, cream and chocolate colors. Its hairs are long and silky in all these colors, which need care, maintenance and bathe on daily basis.
b) It is a loyal, quiet, gentle, loving, and friendly animal, which needs more attention to save it from other animals and naughty children.
c) Maintenance on daily basis is strongly recommended for the owner of a Persian cat. It will helpful in its good health, shine fur, considerable weight and life span.
d) It is peaceful, calm and quite by nature. Undesirable and unnecessary voice, crying can disturb it, which badly affect its health. Therefore, the owner should avoid unnecessary voice, crying and meowing, especially at night hours.
Classification of Persians.
In early 17th century, only one type of Persian cat had come to surface, which developed into too many types with the passage of time. Presently, there are more than hundred recognized type of Persian cats, which further distributed into following four main groups:-
1) Group-1. The cats of first group have monochrome hair. Their hair is of the same color from tip to root. These cats have usually one color.
2) Group-2. Persian cats of second group have suppressor gene.
3) Group-3. The cats of third group have Himalayan gene.
4) Group-4. The cats of fourth and last group have agouti gene.
Types of Persian Cat.
There are some differences among various international cat associations in classification of Persian cats. All associations have their own opinion about the origin, traits and classification of these cats. Approximately, all organizations are agreed with each other on their main three popular types i.e. Himalayan, Exotic and Persian. Some scientists have also stated following types:-

e) Peke-face and ultra-typing.
f) Toy and teacup sizes.
g) Chinchilla Longhair and Sterling.
Color Combination of Persians
Persian cats have different type with multiple color combination. All of them are beautiful and attractive. However, it has been divided into seven different color divisions for the purpose of competition among them. The color combination of authorized cats are as under:-
a) Solid Division. The cats of this color combination have three types of eyes:-
1) Brilliant copper or deep blue eyes.
2) One blue and one copper eye.
3) Solid copper eyes.
b) Silver and Golden Division. This type of cats are the most fragile. It has green or blue-green eyes with black rimmed edges.
c) Shaded and Smoke Division. The smoke cat is one of the best and striking color of Persians. There are six colors in this type of cats i.e. blue, bluish, black, smoke, cream and red with brilliant copper eyes.
d) Tabby Division. There are three patterns of Persian cats in this category i.e mackerel, patched tabby and classic. Its recognized colors are red, brown, blue, blue silver, cream, cameo and cream cameo. It has also copper eyes.
e) Party-color Division. It has four types i.e. blue-cream, tortoiseshell, lilac-cream and chocolate tortoiseshell. All four type have brilliant copper eyes.
f) Bicolor Division. This type of cats are available in two colors i.e smoke and whites and tabby and whites. These cats have brilliant copper eyes except silver tabby and white. Silver tabby and white cats have green or hazel eyes.
g) Himalayan Division. It is one of the most popular type of Persian cat. Himalayan cats have chocolate, seal, lilac, red, blue, cream tortie, chocolate-tortie, blue cream, seal lynx, lilac-cream , cream lynx, red lynx, blue-cream lynx, lilac lynx and a lot of more such colors. It has deep vivid blue eyes.
Lifespan and Weight.
The average lifespan of a Persian cat is fifteen years. More than 76% of cats live up to twelve years and 52% of cats live up to fifteen years or more. England veterinary department has declared their average lifespan from 14-17 years. The weight of Persians generally lies between seven pound to twelve pound sterling.
Food of Persians.
Persian cat belongs to the Mammalia class of animals. It is a carnivore animal who depends on meat and could not sustain life without consuming meat in some form. Persian cat gives birth to babies which known as kitten. It feeds milk to her kitten. Milk is a good diet for kittens. Goat milk, pumpkin, fish and vitamin are the best food for Persians. It should never be given alcohol or alcoholic beverages, sugar and onion because these things can cause serious health problems for them.
Diseases of Persians.
Persian cat is a fragile animal which needs more care and attention. If we do not take care, then it will fall ill. These are generally suffering from under mentioned diseases:-
a) Breathing difficulties/problems.

Care and Maintenance.
The department has declared different causes of death of Persian cat in which difficult breath is the most common disease. The doctors are of the opinion that Persians have large round skull, shortened face and nose, which create difficulties in breathing. The cats usually suffer from breath difficulties due to their facial structure. Moreover, it has long hair, which need regular care and maintenance to prevent matting. The cat must be bathed and dried carefully on daily basis. Their eyes may be cleaned regularly in order to prevent them from eye diseases.

Terms and Conditions for Registration.
Everyone can become the member of CFA and also participate in this show, however, registration with CFA is mandatory. CFA has some terms and condition for registration which are as following:-
a) The individual will render a certificate that he has read the terms and condition of CFA.
b) It is mandatory for the owner to breed his cat according to standard, rules and procedure of CFA.
c) The individual will honestly deal with the purchasers of cats. He will not sell the sick cat or kitten.
d) It is mandatory for the owner to keep his cat above the minimum cattery standard of CFA.
e) The individual will ensure to provide a healthy environment / treatment to his cats.
f) Individual will keep proper record of care and maintenance of his cat.
g) The individual will render a certificate that he will honestly work with fellow breeders. Moreover, he will mentor the new breeders also.
Keeping of Cats in Islam
Islam is a complete religion and way of life, in which everything is clear. Islamic traditions and society have given respect to cats for their cleanliness and gentle nature. Islam has allowed cats to enter the homes of Muslims, mosques and even in Masjid al-Haram. Muslims are permitted to keep cats in their homes being not harmful or Najas (impure). Cats are useful pet animal because they eat snakes, rats and other harmful bugs. The great Sahabi Abu Hurayrah (father of the kitten) was so called because of his love with cats.
