Introduction of Afghanistan.   

           Afghanistan is located within South Asia and Central Asia. Population of Afghanistan is approximately 32 million. It is bordered by Pakistan in the south and east, Iran in the west, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Tajijistan in the north and China in the far northeast. Total area of Afghanistan is 652000 square Km. This land has witnessed numerous military campaigns, notably by Muslim Arabs, Mongols, British, Soviet Russians and in the modern era by Western powers۔ Its people are brave and want to live independently. They are also known for hospitality. It is also called heart of Asia.

Administrative Divisions.

Afghanistan is generally divided into five zones i.e. Central, Northern, Southern, Eastern and Western zone. It is administratively further divided into 34 provinces which have approximatelafghany 398 districts. Names of provinces are as under:-

Languages Spoken in Afghanistan

It has a variety of languages. Following main lanugages are spoken here:-

1)         Dari (Afghan Persian)                                                  –           50%

2)         Pashto                                                                              –           35%

3)         Uzbek and Turkmen                                                     –           11%

4)         30 others including Arabic and Nuristani etc            –           04%

Religions

99% people of Afghanistan are Muslims, however 1% other religions are also followed here:-

1)         Islam (including 90% of Sunni and 7-19% Shia)        –        99%
